Historical novel Khun Ranga Poth written by Naseem Hijazi & translated by Syed Abdul Mannan. Sharif Husain, who used the pseudonym Naseem Hijazi(1914- 1996) was an Urdu writer. He was born at the village of Sujanpur near town Dhariwal, district Gurdaspur, Punjab, before the independence of Pakistan and settled in Lahore in 1947. He lived most of his life in Pakistan and died in March 1996.

The Iliad is an ancient Greek epic poem in dactylic hexameter, traditionally attributed to Homer. Set during the Trojan War, the ten-year siege of the city of Troy  by a coalition of Greek states, it tells of the battles and events during the weeks of a quarrel between King Agamemnon and the warrior Achilles.

Although the story covers only a few weeks in the final year of the war, the Iliad mentions or alludes to many of the Greek legends about the siege; the earlier events, such as the gathering of warriors for the siege, the cause of the war, and related concerns tend to appear near the beginning. Then the epic narrative takes up events prophesied for the future, such as Achilles' looming death and the sack of Troy, prefigured and alluded to more and more vividly, so that when it reaches an end, the poem has told a more or less complete tale of the Trojan War.

The Iliad is paired with something of a sequel, the Odyssey, also attributed to Homer. Along with the Odyssey, the Iliad is among the oldest extant works of Western literature, and its written version is usually dated to around the eighth century BC. Recent statistical modelling based on language evolution has found it to date to 760–710 BC. In the modern vulgate (accepted version), the Iliad contains 15,693 lines; it is written in Homeric Greek, a literary amalgam of Ionic Greek and other dialects.

The Odyssey is one of two major ancient Greek epic poems attributed to Homer. It is, in part, a sequel to the Iliad, the other work ascribed to Homer. The poem is fundamental to the modern Western canon, and is the second oldest extant work of Western literature, the Iliad being the oldest. Scholars believe it was composed near the end of the 8th century BC, somewhere in Ionia, the Greek coastal region of Anatolia.

The poem mainly centers on the Greek hero Odysseus (known as Ulysses in Roman myths) and his journey home after the fall of Troy. It takes Odysseus ten years to reach Ithaca after the ten-year Trojan War. In his absence, it is assumed he has died, and his wife Penelope and son Telemachus must deal with a group of unruly suitors, the Mnesteres or Proci, who compete for Penelope's hand in marriage.

It continues to be read in the Homeric Greek and translated into modern languages around the world. Many scholars believe that the original poem was composed in an oral tradition by an aoidos (epic poet/singer), perhaps a rhapsode (professional performer), and was more likely intended to be heard than read. The details of the ancient oral performance, and the story's conversion to a written work inspire continual debate among scholars. The Odyssey was written in a poetic dialect of Greek—a literary amalgam of Aeolic Greek, Ionic Greek, and other Ancient Greek dialects—and comprises 12,110 lines of dactylic hexameter. Among the most noteworthy elements of the text are its non-linear plot, and the influence on events of choices made by women and serfs, besides the actions of fighting men. In the English language as well as many others, the word odyssey has come to refer to an epic voyage.

Mohashagore Chotto Bhelay 76 Din by Steven Callahan and translated by Sekhar Basu. Steven Callahan (born 1952) is an American author, naval architect, inventor, and sailor most notable for having survived for 76 days adrift on the Atlantic Ocean in a liferaft. Callahan recounted his ordeal in the best-selling book Adrift: 76 Days Lost At Sea (1986), which was on the New York Times best-seller list for more than 36 weeks.

Famous Bangla Novel Dampoti Written by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay. Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay (12 September 1894 - 1 November 1950) was one of the famous Bengali novelist and writer of modern Bengali literature. His best known work, is the autobiographical novel, Pather Panchali, adapted (along with Aparajito, the sequel) into the memorable Apu Trilogy films, directed by Satyajit Ray.

Bandopadhyay, before becoming a writer, took up various jobs to make ends meet. He taught school, became a secretary, managed an estate. Finally, in 1921 he published his first short story, "Upekshita," in Probashi, one of the leading literary magazines of Bengal at that time. However, it was not until 1928, when his first novel, Pather Panchali was published, that Bibhutibhushan got critical attention. With Pather Panchali Bibhutibhushan became, instantly, a prominent name in Bengali literature. He had a stout constitution and walked miles in the woods every day. He usually took his notebook with him and loved to write surrounded by the wilderness. Bandopadhyay died on 1 November 1950, of a heart attack while staying at Ghatshila.

Baro Bhooter Goppo written by Satyajit Ray. Ray created two popular fictional characters in Bengali literature Feluda, a detective, and Professor Shonku, a scientist. The Feluda stories are narrated by Topshe, his cousin, something of a Watson to Feluda's Holmes. The science fictions of Shonku are presented as a diary discovered after the scientist had mysteriously disappeared. Ray also wrote a collection of nonsense verse named Today Bandha Ghorar Dim, which includes a translation of Lewis Carroll's "Jabberwocky". He wrote a collection of humorous stories of Mullah Nasiruddin in Bengali.His short stories were published as collections of 12 stories, in which the overall title played with the word twelve. Ray's interest in puzzles and puns is reflected in his stories. Ray's short stories give full rein to his interest in the macabre, in suspense and other aspects that he avoided in film, making for an interesting psychological study. Most of his writings have been translated into English. Most of his screenplays have been published in Bengali in the literary journal Eksan. Ray wrote an autobiography about his childhood years, Jakhan Choto Chilam (1982).
